If you like the feel of South Texas and the smell of mesquite , purple sage and Huajillo you will love the JM Ranch. We have worked hard over the past few years to develop a comprehensive wildlife management plan that has changed the landscape of our ranch. We have added water sources and mosaic food plots that have been replanted in Texas native grasses such as 'Van Horne" Green Sprangletop (Leptochla dubia) , Klein Select 75 and Plains Bristle . We have cleared over 200 acres of dense brush in patterns and designs that optimize wildlife habitat. This has shown an increase in WhiteTail health and the number of quail and turkey on the ranch.
The JM Ranch is focused on agricultural production and long term sustainability we come from a long line of cattle ranchers and land stewards . The JM Ranch is comprised of 4 divisions; Venticek , Bluntzer , Maspero and Oden. Each division is unique and possesses its own charm and character. We have discovered old wells and arrowheads. As well as the occasional fossil; a mammoth tooth found by one of the daughters. The tooth was taken to the University Of Ohio paleontology department and was deemed a significant discovery in South Texas.
Our goals include improving habitats for native species ,maintaining and restoring grasses and forage , enhancing our ecosystem and protecting biological diversity. All the while implementing modern technology to monitor and support these practices.
